Desvío — a family day planner for Alicante province

Desvío answers one question: what to do with children here, on these dates. A family sets the week, the youngest child, and how far they will go. The site returns one day at a time, made of real events, museums and places in the province, and it is allowed to leave a day quiet.

The brief
Holiday planning in Alicante is scattered. Town halls, theatres, museums and Christmas markets each keep their own diary, almost all of it in Spanish or Valencian, mixed with adult theatre, nightlife and school mornings. Visitors either miss the good hour or spend an evening opening twenty tabs.
Desvío is Origodesign’s own product for that gap. It is not a directory and not a blog of “top ten things to do”. It is a plan for a specific week, written so a parent can decide in a minute and send the same plan to the other adult.
What a visitor does
The form is short. There is no party size. The youngest child starts at “all ages”. The dates start at today and run seven days, and the end cannot fall before the start. Three switches are already on: Events, Locations and Exploring; Culture, Nature and Activities.
“My base” is a list of sixteen towns, from Alicante and El Campello to Dénia, Benidorm, Elche, Torrevieja and Orihuela, or all of them. “Use my location” takes the nearest of those towns. Distance is a circle around the phone, or around the centre of the chosen town: under 5 km, then 10, 20, 30, 50, or no cap. A neighbouring town inside the circle is included. A car is assumed, and can be turned off.
Each day is in the same order. First the dated events. Then places that are simply open, such as a museum or a beach. Then other things worth considering. A thumbs-down removes a stop and puts the next real listing in its place. A thumbs-up pulls something back onto the day. Nothing is invented to fill a hole.
A card you can act on
Every stop says what it is, in a sentence or two: a puppet show, a factory tour, a food fair. If the hour, the street or the length is not known, the card says to check the organiser’s website. It never explains what the source page failed to print.
Price is always there. A known price is shown. An unknown one says “Price: Check website” (in Spanish, “Precio: Consulta la web”). A place that is awkward by bus says “Tricky without a car”. Map and website sit on every card. The website opens in a new tab.
A Spanish title stays in Spanish. On the English site, a short English gloss sits under it in brackets. Nature, a monument, a beach or a museum has no language line, unless the visit itself is given in a language, as with the cave tours at Canelobre or the Valor chocolate factory in Villajoyosa.
Sharing the exact week
Share does not send the empty homepage. It sends a link that restores the dates, the filters, what was refused and what was pinned. The same address is used for the system share sheet, a copied link, and email. “Add to calendar” writes every dated stop in Europe/Madrid, not the standing museums that are open all season.
Search sits at the foot of every page, including a single day and the legal pages. Results open on their own page, in the same cards as the plan. A museum that is open every Saturday is one card, not one card per hour.
Two languages, one diary
English lives at the root. Spanish lives at /es. A browser set to Spanish opens the Spanish site, unless the visitor has already chosen. The diary is the same in both languages. The interface, the prices and the notes follow the language of the page.
The listings are family events, plus food fairs, flea markets and town festivities a child can attend. Adult theatre, nightlife, horror nights, tribute concerts, author cinema and school-only mornings stay out. A show that runs all weekend is offered once, on the Saturday if that Saturday is in the trip, and the card says how long it runs. Past dates remain in the archive and are not offered again.
The diary is checked every Thursday at 03:00, Spain time, from town halls, theatres and museums across the province, including Alicante, El Campello, Elche, Benidorm, Altea, Alcoy, Dénia, Ibi and the provincial stages. A new date is added only when the organiser’s page prints it. The same title on the same day is not saved twice.
Design
The interface is quiet on purpose. Sand paper, clay type, one day in view, no cover photograph in the app itself. The photograph of a family on the Alicante shore is only the share card. The tab icon is a clay tile with a cream arrow: a detour, which is what the name means.
The front of the site says what it is, in both languages.
